Yes, Ungues of the Forgotten are slashing damage, which is why I like 'em so much.
I think salient daggers are the rarest dropped skin out there ( I have more zodiacs than salients), but Ungues are currently dropped only as greens.

I would recommend having at least a zealous pair of peircing and slashing since there are now +10 vs slashing mod shields readily available and mor eoften used in my opinion than teh piercing mod. Bringing both types give you one of teh few very small advantages pve still offers to pvp chars [hush hush though or they will nerf that too ]

Indeed Seamus. But I was answering at the OP's question: the best daggers.

every sin should have...
1 vamp daggers for spiking with combo
1 zealous daggers for building up energy with normal attacks
1 elemental daggers for warriors

Cytherea, I would stick to zealous forever... You want as much energy as possible, spiking people one by one, the only way to use zealous daggers is during your spike combo. Good sins won't use autoattacks.
Get a target->kill->Get a target ->kill->etc...
Where's the room for normal attacks? There isn't. Sins should avoid combat if they're not killing things. This is the reason why Locust's Fury sucks...

the extra damage from vamp on a squishy or elemental on a warrior helps in many cases
you're right about avoiding autoattacks but if the situation allows it, why not

On my builds, the situation never allows it-> I use heavy energy chains, that's why I'll always stick to zealous...

the only 15>50 20/20 +30 daggers are Ardehs Daggers( according to guildwiki), in nightfall
shouldnt they be the best daggers in the game?
the trend seems to be that 15>50 20/20 +30 are the best mods a physical wep can have since anet likes to put them on the high end greens like kanaxais and urgoz
oh well i dunno
as for me, i use ceremonial daggers. 15>50 + 30, great skin and i love zealous on daggers
i dont know why people would care about them being peircing damage. i mean how often do u run into a foe (in PvE) that happens to have shields up and it ends up ur whole team dies jus coz u didnt put in that extra +10 dmg
spose in PvP its a lot different

For an assassin, zealous daggers easily beat sundering daggers due to the huge energy requirements of sustained dagger attack chains.

Just because daggers and mods are expensive doesn't mean they're the best.
Sundering sucks, and most pve'ers just buy the most expensive item, because they think it's the best...
If you can choose between slashing or piercing, slashing wins hands down.

i was not trying to say that sundering was the best (in fact i think they suck on daggers) but i was jus saying that anet puts these mods on high end greens, making people think they are good.
on daggers, i reckon zealous and best, followed by vamp

ive said it before and ill say it again... you NEED elemental daggers when fighting warriors! the damage you do to them will be almost equal to hitting a squishy! (like eles, mes, etc)
i use ssaresh's kris daggers when shadowprison-spiking warriors... instant kill!
and of course, shiro's for everything else

You can get req 7 max damage weapons. My brother has a req 7 15^50 longsword (The claymore style one) that's max damage.

Actualy the paragon skill "Bladeturn Refrain" gives +10-42 armor against slashing.
And my favourite dagger mods are vampiric and zealous.

I use the green daggers "Darkroot's Daggers" and I find them pretty good, works great with an AoD build, like the skin as well.

I'm pretty sure People will prefer Shields Up! than Bladeturn Refrain.
Also:
Shields Up! is 50 al for 18 seconds in an area and 50% chance to block incoming projectile attacks every 30 seconds for 15 energy per cast.
Bladeturn Refrain is 34 al for 20 seconds to target allie every 8 seconds for 5 energy per cast.
Both attributes have 12 points.
It's pretty obvious You're going to pick Shields Up!. It's a good skill to take a duplicate with, so you have it up 24/7. It's also usefull for ganking the guild hall, although the guild lord might actually use slashing damage himself.
